THE IN-BETWEEN (2019)

recent UN report showed 272 million people were living outside of their home country in 2019. "The In-Between" seeks to explore the experience of Third-Culture Kids (TCK), the children of all of those migrants, who've grown up in cultures different to those of their parents. "The In-Between" and its companion podcast "Culture Chameleon" focus on the nuances of growing up as a TCK. This multimedia project was created as part of the Media Practice for Development & Social Change MA at the University of Sussex.

FOOTHILLS FOOD BANK – CAVE CREEK, AZ (2013 - Present)

I am the current webmaster and social media manager for the nonprofit Foothills Food Bank in Cave Creek. The food bank serves the North Valley, as far north as Anthem and Black Canyon City, Ariz. I began by creating and maintaining the food bank’s Twitter page, graduating first to management of the Facebook page and finally the website. Since taking over, the website has undergone a complete re-design and re-organization.

THE NERD HERD (2014)

I created The Nerd Herd as a light-hearted “nerd culture” blog. It features examples of vlogging, writing, photos, interviews, and usages of externals links and tags. I chose to blog about this culture because it involves so many things that I enjoy: film, literature, television, and principally, person-to-person interaction. I have spoken with some great people in the process of putting together The Nerd Herd, including the city of Tempe organizers for the first annual Geek Week and the president of Arizona State University’s Dumbledore’s Army.

STREET TALK (2013)

Street Talk is a comprehensive journalism project, completed between Jan. 2013 and May 2013, about homelessness in Downtown Phoenix. It was created in collaboration with four other students at the Walter Cronkite School. We profiled homeless individuals, compiled local news stories on the topic and attempted to understand what the reality of day-to-day living is for those on the streets. As a resident of Downtown Phoenix, I am confronted by homelessness everyday, and my collaborators and I wanted to explore this topic on behalf of residents of our area.
