Charity development manager working in project development, fundraising, finance, and communications in the UK migrant rights sector. Research interests include intersectional race and poverty representations in the mass media. International work experience. Trilingual (English, French, Spanish).

Development Manager - English for Action London (London, U.K.)    

February 2021 – Present
 

As part of the EFA team, I serve on the Executive Team and work jointly across the project development, fundraising, finance, and communications teams to see projects through from conceptualization to completion. EFA supports migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum in the Greater London area through the provision of free ESOL and community organizing courses, as well as by amplifying and resourcing migrant-led campaigns for a fairer, more just London.

ESL Teacher - Ringle English Education Service (Remote / Online)

I worked as an English tutor for a service providing training to Korean professionals and students. Remotely, I conducted a range of courses, from discussion classes and grammar-focused classes to writing classes and mock interviews.

After a complete redesign of this small business’s website and the creation of a social media and marketing plan for the company, I remotely managed its site and online brand accounts.

English Language Assistant - Junta de Andalucía (Málaga, Spain)

As part of the Spanish government's Auxiliares de Conversación program, I have worked in two public schools in Málaga, Spain, as an English language teaching assistant. At the primary school level (ages 3-9), my responsibilities have included aiding the students with pronunciation and new vocabulary, preparing games and activities, and guiding students through their workbook tasks in the natural sciences. At the secondary school level, I have led discussion groups, prepared games and activities and generally provided pronunciation and speaking support to both English teachers and the teachers of other bilingual subjects (including Physical Education, Math, Biology, History & Geography, and more).

Private English tutor (Málaga, Spain)

I currently work as a private tutor in the Málaga area, assisting as needed with preparation for the Cambridge and Trinity English exams, conversation classes, grammar training, writing, pronunciation and more.

ESL Teacher/American Village Camp Counselor - NACEL (Menton, France)

June - July 2018

 

I planned and taught 20 hours of English classes to advanced high school students per session, and we completed two two-week sessions at the Menton camp site in July. Additionally, I served as a full-time, live-in counselor at the American Village camp, looking after the students while they were away from home.

English Language Assistant - Lycée La Borde Basse (Castres, France)

As part of the TAPIF cultural exchange program, sponsored by the French Embassy to the United States, I work with students at the Borde Basse high school in Southwest France to practice speaking English and giving oral presentations on topics ranging from gun control and immigration to modern hero myths and globalization.

Page Editor - Gannett Design Studio (Phoenix, Arizona)

July 2016 - Sept. 2016

 

During the summer between my two school years as an English Language Assistant in France, I was given the opportunity to join the Gannett Design Studio in Phoenix for a two-month position as a page editor. In this capacity, I wrote headlines, decks and cutlines, as well as trimming stories, writing front page refers and proofreading regional Gannett papers for publication. Each day improved and reinforced my copy editing and AP style skills, as well as my eye for the visual appearance of each page of our print publications.

Online Producer - The Arizona Republic/AZCentral.com (Phoenix, Arizona)

I produced digital content for AZCentral.com, Arizona's premier online news source. My content focus area was arts and entertainment, and my daily duties included editing and publishing wire stories, galleries and other media for the site. I also manned the Things to Do Twitter feed and the posting of A&E stories to the main AZCentral Twitter feed, as well as helping with the Explore AZ Twitter feed and the AZCentral dining Twitter feed. I aid with long-form projects where needed.

 

News Assistant - The Arizona Republic/AZCentral.com (Phoenix, Arizona)

As a news assistant for the Contributions desk, I edited and prepared a variety of freelance community, news and feature stories for print and web. I was involved in the copy editing, the print-side layout, the online production and the scheduling for these stories in this position. The position was a two-month job created to alleviate the workload of the Contributions editors as they worked on a seasonal project.

 

Digital Content Producer - Cronkite News  (Phoenix, Arizona)

I worked with a team of producers to edit and produce content for the Cronkite News website, as well as editing Cronkite News packages for wire transmission. My duties also included serving as the Cronkite News social media editor (on Twitter, Facebook and other sites) and as the Cronkite News TV web video editor. Our media packages included breaking news and long-form projects.

I covered music in the Phoenix metro area and produced bi-weekly reviews and stories for The State Press.

I worked on and implemented a complete re-design of the Foothills Food Bank website, press materials and social media pages. My goals included ameliorating the food bank's professional relationship with other area nonprofits and increasing its capacity to serve the community through its online outreach.
